That phrase is part of the CrossFit Mantra, "CrossFit in 100 words".
Well, I am embracing that at the moment,in learning to play Water Polo and training very hard to be fit enough for the World Masters Games in Sydney, October 10th-18th.
I am discovering just how fit you need to be for Water Polo. Try treading water, eggbeater kick, for over an hour as well as numerous sprints forward then back as you follow the ball and jostle for position throughout a match.
But it is lots of fun!
And more importantly, I have noticed there are certain things I can do quite easily and feel CrossFit is responsible for this :
I am strong and fast in the water, cardio wise. I can match the Uni team members (my training partners till Sydney and 20yrs younger) in the sprints. Strengthwise especially upper body, I can power the ball away accurately.
All those pullups, pushups, wall ball shots, push press, squats and many more skills I have learned are imediately transferable to other sports and I can perform them much better for longer duration.
Apart from feeling physically and mentally tired while my body adapts to new physical demands and my mind absorbs a new set of game rules, I feel good, ie no sprains or strains because my body is already "prepared for the unknown and unknowable from core to extremity"...... (more CrossFit mantra)
